My name is Brenda Morrison and I am the new Mayor for the Town of Vance and also the first female to ever serve in this position. I was born and raised in Vance and love my town and its citizens! Prior to becoming Mayor, I served on the Vance Town Council for 23 years and was Mayor Protem 19 years of that time. I retired from the State of Alabama in 2017 with 34 ½ years of experience in management and administrative work. I was sworn in as Mayor on October 7th, 2019. I am excited about this new adventure in my life and look forward to helping the Town grow in a positive manner.
Vance is a small town with a BIG heart. We love our citizens and community, especially the children and elderly. We have a hardworking council that weighs every decision carefully and works diligently for the citizens. Our Town employees are hard workers that invest their time and energy into keeping the Town running in an efficient and safe manner. We have a lot going on in the Town and we are excited to be a part of history. We have several road projects going on right now that will be finished by the late spring of 2020. We are continuing to improve our beautiful park with fruit and shade trees plus we have added a new pavilion for our citizens to enjoy. We have a Sprint Mart coming soon, along with a meat and three restaurant, a doc in a box and pharmacy, groundbreaking should be within the next couple of months. Sometimes progress can be painful but the good results that come from it are worthwhile. Please be patient as the construction begins on the different road projects and most importantly be safe! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season.

Hello All,
I want to give an update of some of the things happening in Vance. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has let the bids in February to demolish all structures on Highway 11 for the 5-lane expansion. Therefore, the structures should be destroyed soon. Due to this expansion our Dollar General and Convenience Store are having to relocate. The Convenience Store has already purchased property to rebuild at a later date and Broadway Development is in negotiations to purchase property to rebuild Dollar General. The council and I are excited that these stores will return to Vance because the customer base and sales are excellent for their companies. Several of the landowners that have property left, after the expansion, on Highway 11, want to sell their remaining property at a good price. If anyone is interested in purchasing these properties for commercial projects you may contact me at the Town Hall and I will get the information to you.
The Highway 11 expansion is projected to take 2-2 1/2 years therefore I encourage everyone to be patient. Sometimes progress is painful but once the road is completed I am optimistic it will open up growth for the Town.
In June we plan to have a grand opening for our new Activity and Fire Department building plus our new library that will be in the old civic center building. Also, the Town plans on having a clean-up day with the citizens and serving food and handing out t-shirts.
Awhile back the Town was awarded a grant to build a turn lane on Vance Blocton/Mt. Moriah Road, this has been completed. Also, there will be a new parking lot built in front of the old civic center building for library and storm shelter parking.
We will soon complete putting lights around the walking track so that citizens and the community will feel comfortable walking or running at night.
I hope to make an announcement in the late summer months that will excite and thrill all of the citizens in the Town of Vance. Therefore, please stay tuned for updates!!
